Me and my best friend of 4 yrs. decided to start dating. We were so in love, everything was perfect. I experienced an illness, and my dad had 3 strokes during the time we were together.

On my 18th birthday he proposed to me. We went to take the mandatory marriage test to see if we were compatible. Needless to say after we did the test, he started to push me away and we fought all the time.

One day we got in a huge fight and ended up breaking up. I know I was pushing him away and not giving him a chance to breathe , but couldn't stop begging for him back.

A couple of months after we broke up I stupidly and I mean I was DUMB and NOT thinking , but I slept with my ex-boyfriend, which is his best friend. Four months after I slept with that guy , I called my ex-fiancée to see if he thought about us going back out, and he said he'll think about it and let me know. Right before he was going to give me an answer I told him that I slept with that guy. I called him the other day to let him know one of our friends got in an accident and he said he knew and hung up on me.

My question is, by what I've told you, do you think it is possible that he is purposely hurting and avoiding me? Do you think he still loves me and thinks about me?

From reading your request, I think he has totally moved on, and isn't interested in having a relationship with you at this time. Do *not* blame yourself. This happens all of the time. We're in a relationship that we view as perfect, yet the other person doesn't feel the same way.

It has happened to me on various occasions. There were times when I absolutely knew I'd die if he and I didn't get back together. Well, we didn't, and I survived just fine. Sure, there will be pain, but once you decide that enough is enough, you'll get him out of your mind.

We have to get rid of what is not working to make room for what will work. Remember when you said " I know I was pushing him away and not giving him a chance to breathe , but couldn't stop begging for him back? " You were exactly correct. Men are predators by nature. You've actually wasted 17 precious months of your life hoping for something that wasn't going to be.

Whether you slept with your old boyfriend or not, he wasn't going to resume the relationship with you. He was truly wasting your time.

Is it wise to remain friends with an ex that you're still interested in? No. The reasoning behind this is --- you want his love and his friendship, not simply his friendship. Stop calling him. I know it won't be easy, but I'm confident that you can do it. Sooner than you think you'll become involved with a young man who will appreciate you for the wonderful, beautiful, kind-hearted young lady you are.
