Got game 2
This is a brief recap of our previous article, Got Game?:
You've got a man/woman! Ha! Your friends can eat their little hearts out, huh?! Everything is going as smooth as silk --- you guys talk on the phone every night, and see each other at least three times per week. Things couldn't be better ... Well, he/she was supposed to come over tonight, yet he/she didn't show up or call.... hmmm... You've left several messages, yet your calls weren't returned. What is going on here???
Here is what's going on --- you've become too comfortable and too available --- too soon. This doesn't have anything to do with rules, just what's real. Some how, some way, you've slipped into the taken for granted arena. The back burner. The "I'll call her/him when absolutely no one else is around"... mode. Not good.
Look at it this way, remember when you'd want a new toy very badly? I remember when I wanted an easy bake oven. Man, I just had to have one or I'd die. Well, my mom got it for me. I played with it every day for a week or two, and then it just sat in the corner. I was tired of it. I'd gotten too used to it --- too soon. Key words, too soon.
Everyone likes a challange, no one likes a door mat, and no one expects you to be available all of the time. Yet and still, some of us are available all of the time. Tell me I'm lying? Have a little mystery. Keep some things to yourself. There is nothing deceptive about not telling someone your entire life story.
Scenario #2: He/she calls you. The two of you are having a great time talking! Wow, you've got so much in common! But wait a minute... let's save something to talk about next time, shall we? O.K., alright, I'll cut to the chase --- get off the phone! Damn, don't hang on the phone as long as you can. This isn't a telephone conversation marathon, and there aren't any prizes at the end of the line. seriously, save something for later. Always leave them wanting more, don't leave them wondering if you have a life.
There's an art to knowing when to end a telephone conversation and a date. Take a lesson from one of my favorite bible verses:
Withdraw thy foot from thy neighbour's house; lest he be weary of thee, and so hate thee.
That verse is an eternal truth. I translated it to say:
Have sense enough to know when to end a phone converation and a date, or you will bore the other party to death and they will lose interest in you.
You get bored when someone talks you to death, or hangs around never knowing when to leave your spot, don't you? Well then! This article can be summed up to say --- have a life. There is someone out there for you, but when you meet him/her --- don't smother them. It is understandable that it's been a few weeks, months or even years since you've dated. Control yourself!
Here's the Aalize One-Two:
1. Don't always be available to talk on the phone 2. Don't always be available for a date I can hear you now, "but Aalize --- you said we shouldn't play games." That's exactly what I said, and I meant it. Listen up, and hear me well --- there is a difference between playing games and having GAME.
