Blind Date or UNseen Mate!

Blind dates. The words alone are enough to send shivers down your spine. Another man or woman, sight unseen. Sure, you've exchanged pictures but, how recent are they? Was your blind date actually the person in the photo?

Internet dating brings a whole new meaning to Blind Dates. You meet someone via a personals ad , exchange pictures and even converse over the telephone for a while. It's time. The two of you decide to meet. There are some serious what ifs you might want to consider, and instead of allowing you to wreck your nerves trying to think of them all --- here are some what ifs for starters:

What if he/she has a serious hygiene problem?

What if he/she is seriously disabled?

What if he/she is a player/golddigger?

What if he/she is someone you know?

What if he/she is your friend's mate?

What if he/she is your sister's mate?

The list could go on and on. Hopefully you have found out this information from your potential blind date well in advance. Remember, not everyone has the same standards of beauty. What's good to you may be bad to another, and vice versa.

Here is a true story submitted by one of our site members. "I met this guy online in a chatroom. We chatted for hours and hours; it seemed like we were soulmates. As it usually happens, we began talking on the telephone; ooh... he sounded so sexy! The date was set; we were going to meet face to face. Since we both lived in the same city, we decided to meet in the downtown area. As I drove up to the designated meeting place, I saw a man. A very UNattractive man. I said to myself, please don't let this be him. It was him. The fairytale was over. This definitely was not my knight in shining armor. I was madd disappointed to say the least.

I suffered through 30 - 45 minutes of small talk over a couple of cocktails, then excused myself; assuring him that I'd call him later. I called him later, informed him that he was NOT my type, and pushed on."

Of course, not all blind dates end on a negative note. Another visitor wrote to inform us that she'd met a wonderful guy at our Attitude Personals , and is currently engaged to him! Go Gyrl!

To Blind Date or not to Blind Date. It all boils down to this: If you're looking for a fun time, a few laughs or a possible mate; go for it. Even if you don't wind up with Mr. or Mrs. Right immediately, you just might walk away with a new friend.
