The Meantime. I describe it as an invited or uninvited timeout. Things happen for a reason, and when life calls a timeout we'd better listen. Why did that relationship end? How did we wind up in divorce court? Who can we run to? When will it be right? What can we do in the meantime?

The meantime allows you to focus on you. To take care of your business and tie up your loose ends. Perhaps you want to go back to school. Here is your chance. You can now focus all of your energies on your education, and I don't mean sex education either!

Explore your creative side.

Ever wanted to learn how to cook gourmet cuisine? Learn how to water-ski? Write a book? Learn how to create a web site, perhaps? Now is the time to do it. Take advantage of the meantime; it won't last forever.

Later for worrying about what he or she wants. This is all about you. Ever been to a day spa? a weekend spa? A pool suite? Las Vegas? Go. That's right, just do it. Done it before? Do it again.

Spend time with family and friends.

Invite your family and friends over for dinner. Coordinate a family reunion or a girls/boys night out amongst friends. Flip through an old phonebook. Go on, call. You just might make someone's day while making your own!

Some of us get all caught up in the loneliness factor. Hey, we were born alone remember? A piece of a relationship is not better than no relationship at all. Why sell yourself short? Take a self assessment and ask yourself the following questions:

How have I been treated in the past?

How will I be treated in the future?

What have I put up with in the past?

What will I no longer put up with?

Tomorrow is gone. All of the wishing in the world won't bring it back. Let's not live in the past, no matter how bad or good it was. Sure, we'll plan for the future... but all we have is today. Let's make the most of it.
