I have been with my boyfriend for almost two years, we've live together for 6 months. He is in the navy and is going to sea in a month. I want to get married before he leaves. I would even be happy with being engaged. He says he's not ready.
I don't think it's fair that I should have to wait around for 4 more years for a boyfriend. I want some kind of commitment. I have given up my family, friends and school to follow him around the United States. I think he should at last be willing to give me something in return to show that he wants to commit to this relationship.
He doesn't want to break up, but he doesn't want to be engaged or get married. Should I just stay with him and be patient or should I say goodbye and go home?
Re-read the last sentence in the first paragraph of your request.
You used the word I, ten times. You used the word LOVE, zero times. Don't expect an engagement or a marriage without love.
You feel that you gave up your family, friends and school. If so, you made the choice to give up those things, he didn't make you do it; you can't make him get engaged to you or marry you.
You need to focus on breathing some love into your relationship, for when a man and a woman are truly in love, the engagement and the marriage usually follow. Be patient and wait it out.
